guest post: ashley from the chic line

hi everyone! my name is ashley and i blog over at the chic line. i am so happy to be here today sharing one of my favorite recipes.

banana bread is definitely a go-to in my kitchen. whenever our bananas begin to turn overripe. i peel and freeze them to use later for smoothies or my favorite banana bread. i have manipulated this recipe in so many ways, but the way it stands here is one of the very best. the brown sugar makes it different than most recipes, and the sour cream/yogurt is a wonderful addition as well. i hope you enjoy it as much as i do!

brown sugar banana bread

1 stick butter, softened
3/4 cup light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 cup very ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup greek yogurt or sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped nuts or chocolate chips; optional

preheat oven to 350 degrees.

cream together butter and sugar. stir in eggs, bananas, and vanilla.

sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. stir into banana mixture. fold in nuts or chocolate chips.

pour into a lightly greased loaf pan, and bake for one hour or until toothpick comes out clean. let sit five minutes, the turn onto rack to cool.

slice & spread with butter, enjoy with a cup of tea.
